Reflections on Earth Trusteeship

A network of Right Livelihood Laureates and the World Future Council recommends “Enhance the concepts of Rights of Nature and Earth Trusteeship in our relationship with the earth and in our political and legal systems.” In this line the Earth Trusteeship Working Group (ETWG) was set up three years ago, initiated by Right Livelihood College Bangkok. At the grassroot level RLC Bangkok and partners enabled the start of the Connecting the Commons (CTC) project with support of the Heinrich Boell Foundation Southeast Asia.

The purpose of the conference is to explore innovative concepts toward Earth System Governance as well as how initiatives rooted in ASEAN, Southeast Asia, Asia Pacific can feed into this global “open coalition networking”. Suggestions have been made that the Summit of the Future should not be limited to the New York location, but see satellite activities budding all over the world.

Reflections on Earth Trusteeship by Neshan Gunasekera
Earth Trusteeship Dialogue on 27 – 29 APRIL 2023, most of us met and others were there in spirit, a wonderful meeting of minds and hearts on Earth Trusteeship, convened by Hans, Wallapa and the team in Bangkok – thank you so much once again!

Our joint publication on Reflections on Earth Trusteeship is being well received in Lund (and other partners, including the Earth Charter Secretariat) as I begin to share its message with a wider audience.

Ant (thank you again) had kindly shared a clip of the closing Harvest, which is full of wonderful memories, here it is – https://fb.watch/kcWNAjNP56/?mibextid=Nif5oz
I know that a few still remain in Thailand exploring its wonderful history and heritage whilst others, including myself have returned. Best wishes to all!
